Didn't start the water fight

Sir, I see that it is a case of "it's not so funny now"! I bring your attention to the fact that it was not the Brechin public who started the water fight but the float organisers and the people on them that has caused this outrage.

Ok a splash of water does no harm when in fun, but last year it had escalated to larger water canons and indeed one small float had what was like a power washer on it.

I was taking great pleasure in watching the parade go past taking pictures of all the floats until this small float, tractor & trailer if I remember, sprayed the people on the pavement, I was particularly targeted as I was taking pictures it hit me full in the face drenching me and my camera, as a result the lens misted over preventing me from taking picture of family on another float and also of the events for the rest of the day.

Having participated on many parades in the Brechin Civic week since early 70s both on floats and with the band, I appreciate the tremendous amount of work and devotion that goes into these events.

I did not watch the parade go by this year but opted to watch it within the safer arena at the Public Park, as for the barrow boys collecting donations, several of them passed me by without so much as glance even when I tried to offer money to them, perhaps they should also be acting as "Parade Marshalls". Let's call a truce and enjoy next year's festivities.

Yours etc.,
