Furious over water attacks
Sir, We are writing to express our extreme anger and disappointment at the shambles that was Saturday's float procession.
After being one of only five groups to have entered a float in this year's pageant, we feel that our weeks of hard work and effort were totally wasted.
Within minutes of leaving the Glebe Park our float was ruined by mindless youths armed with powerful water guns, water bombs and bottles of water, which they persisted in bombarding us with throughout our entire route.
As if the water wasn't bad enough later in the route we had chewed gum spat at us and smoke bombs thrown that could have caused a fire.
We feel let down by the lack of support from the Barrow Boys, Round Tablers and Police as they did very little to stop these youths. We were also appalled to see that some of the culprits were accompanied by their parents, who seemed to find it all very amusing.
If this is the attitude of Brechin's youth culture then we will be very surprised to see any floats at the pageant in years to come.
