Community campus plans to be unveiled

Plans for a new community campus at Brechin High School have taken a big step forward as concept designs for the site are unveiled.

Local people are being invited to an event at the school at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, to view and give feedback on the proposals for the development of the site.

Comments made at this initial event will be taken on board by the design team, and updated drawings will be made available at a further consultation meeting on Tuesday March 12.

The updated plans will also be displayed from March 13 to 15 in the school, the library, the Damacre Centre and the leisure centre, to give as many people as possible the opportunity to contribute.

Education spokesperson Sheena Welsh said: “I hope the local community will take the opportunity to view these plans, and give their views as we work together to develop more detailed proposals for the site.”

Residents can also give feedback on the proposals at www.angus.gov.uk/hys, or by writing to the Director of Education, Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AE. The designs and background information on the project are available at www.angus.gov.uk/brechincommunitycampus.

The Brechin Community Campus project will incorporate the replacement for Brechin High School, enhanced community leisure facilities, and a performance space and accommodation for adult learning and youth activities.

The new £24 million facility is being developed in partnership with the East Central Territory hubco - which has been established to cover the Tayside, Fife and Central areas, and which the council can use to deliver community projects of this nature.
