ENTRIES are now open for the Angus Ambassador Awards 2012 – the annual celebration of the very best of Angus.

The Angus Ambassadors Awards are organised by Angus Ahead, the county’s marketing campaign, and the winners are selected by a panel of judges, including several previous Angus Ambassador winners.

There are six categories and the awards will be presented to the worthy winners at a glittering ceremony on November 23, when the overall winner, the Angus Ambassador of the Year 2012, will also be announced.

The six categories in the 2012 Angus Ambassador Awards are as follows:-

Business Ambassador - The Entrepreneurial Angus Award, recognising companies which have demonstrated innovation, ambition and enterprise, was won last year by Intervention Rentals.

Community Ambassador - The Pride of Angus Award, celebrating the people, businesses or organisations which are inspiring, enabling and promoting achievement, confidence and pride in our communities. The 2011 winner of this award was Norrie Stein of the Café Project.

Cultural Ambassador - The Creative Angus Award, highlighting those people or organisations which foster a greater understanding of the distinct history, heritage and contemporary culture of Angus, an award which was won in 2011 by Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre.

International Ambassador - The GoAhead Angus Award, rewarding those people, groups and businesses who are creating global awareness of the county’s strengths, skills and opportunities, as demonstrated by 2011 winners, Intervention Rentals.

Tourism Ambassador - The Welcome Angus Award, celebrating excellence in tourism and open to groups or businesses which encourage people to visit the county. Won in 2011 by Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club.

Youth Ambassador - The Aspiring Youth Award, showcasing the achievements and ambitions of young people aged 25 and under who are shaping the future of Angus and inspiring other young people. Last year’s winner was Carnoustie horn player, Ailsa Russell.
