THE DEVELOPMENT of the new community campus at Brechin High School will have a knock-on effect on other buildings in the city, and this could provide a positive opportunity to move the city and its surrounding area forward, the council’s Neighbourhood Services committee heard at their meeting on Thursday, January 17.

A vision discussion paper has been produced which has a core ideal of improving the city for the benefit of the whole Brechin Ward area. It highlights many of the existing positive things that are happening in the ward at present: community organisations, businesses assets, public buildings, employers, housing and environment.

The discussion paper talks about the development of, or different potential uses for, council owned community-based buildings, and Angus Council is being asked to act as a co-signatory of a letter seeking wide community consultation on the discussion document and to host a one-day community consultation event on this subject early in 2013.
