Brechin Rotary Club continued their fund-raising campaign for the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland with a bucket collection at Brechin City’s game against Queen of the South at Glebe Park on Saturday.

While the result of the game was disheartening (the visitors winning), the club was delighted to announce that another £200 was added to their efforts for the organisation that runs Rachel House in Kinross.

A spokesman said: “We visited Rachel House last year and were moved by the wonderful work that goes on there to help children with life shortening conditions and their families. Further fund-raising is planned this year to complement the money raised by our race night last year.

“We would like to thank the generosity of all those at the match, and a big thank you to Brechin City for allowing us to do it.”

At the Rotary’s recent meeting friends and partners joined to hear how High School pupils Flora Henry, Chloe Barclay and Gregory Hill enjoyed the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp.

The club sponsored them to go to the camp at Nethy Bridge, where they took part in a variety of activities. The youngsters reported back and showed a rather amusing DVD of the week’s events, and then all three gave rather assured accounts. Steve Collis thanked them for coming to the club and providing an insight into their visit.
