Progress highlighted in report
A SNAPSHOT of education in Angus was unveiled at a meeting of the Education Committee in Forfar on Thursday, August 23.
The Education Department’s newly-published annual report for 2011-12 outlines the performance on all aspects of the department’s work.
There were several highlights including that, by the end of S6, the proportion of pupils attaining three or more awards at Higher level increased to an average of 33%. There was continuing good progress in implementing the new curriculum. The downward trend in the number of working days lost through sickness absence for teaching staff has also continued.
Education convener Sheena Welsh said: “This annual report gives a useful overview of the performance of the Education Service over the past year. I am pleased to see the good progress being made in a number of areas, and the steps being taken to address areas where we have identified a drop in performance. We will continue to work hard to promote learning for all age groups in the county.”
