Eurowind and LoganPM blew into Angus College recently to provide students with a presentation on harnessing energy through wind.
The presentation was enjoyed by 15 students studying on the College’s new Introduction to Engineering with Renewable Energy course.
Angus College’s Renewables and Energy Development Manager Roddy Scott said: “The renewable energies industry is an area which has grown significantly in recent years to comply with Scottish Government’s renewable energy targets. By 2020, the Scottish Government aims for 50 per cent of Scotland’s energy to come from renewable energy sources.
“Sessions like this one today, with Eurowind and LoganPM, are very important for our students, making them aware of the opportunities available to them in the renewable sector, allowing them to engage with industry and broaden their horizons.”
Eurowind, have an ethos of working with local communities and the team in Scotland are particularly interested in building skills to enable the renewable industry in Scotland to provide new jobs and opportunities for young people.
Ian Lindsay, Director of Eurowind said: “There are new jobs being created in renewables every day, but the continual challenge we face as an industry is to recruit a skilled workforce ready to hit the ground running and deliver exciting new projects.
“We see the role of Angus College as crucial in opening up the job opportunities across the energy sector in Angus and we have been delighted to input in a practical way to the courses today.”
