FORFAR Band The White Light received a boost recently when they were presented with two acoustic guitars from Freshman's Guitars of Glasgow.
The band - Barrie Wilson (drums), Barry McEwan (lead guitar), Scott Birch (vocals) and Neil Smeaton (bass) - so impressed one of the judges at last year's final of the Win A Deal competition that he decided to support the lads with the generous donation of the instruments, valued at £300 each.

They have already put the guitars to good use in the recording studio, and they feature on two of their new tracks recorded recently at the Hastie Retreat in Dundee.

Barrie Wilson stated the lads were "really chuffed" to receive the support from Freshman's Guitars - noted for supporting other up-and -coming Scottish talent, as well as Wet Wet Wet, The Law and Amy MacDonald.

The White Light are looking forward to a busy few weeks throughout August starting this Friday in the Kirrie Town Hall.

On August 16 they will headline Live in the Den at Kirriemuir and on Sunday, August 17 they have been invited by Mercury Records to play at the Three Sisters in Edinburgh, in the midst of the capital's Fringe Festival.

On August 22 they will form part of the line-up at an under 18 gig at the Plough in Forfar.
