WANT to see what Kirriemuir's KIST group is coming up with next by way of community drama?
Then "Hamewith" is for you! Geared to the theme of the Tayroots Festival (September 6 to 13) "Hamewith" tells fictional stories based on the factual emigration from 20th century Kirriemuir to far-flung places such as Hawaii and Australia.
Letters
back and forth were the only, and a vital, link between those who left and those who stayed.
Did they always tell the truth? Were the pictures painted really as rosy?
With songs reflecting the music and moods of these people, "Hamewith" promises to be an enlightening entertainment for the ten to 90s age group!
It has been specially written by KIST's tried and tested team of local writers of note: Jan Natanson (hot from her uproarious success, "Kaperkellie" at Kellie Castle for the Pittenweem Festival), Mary McIntosh, Lydia Robb and Frances Watt.
True to its traditions, KIST will be performing "Hamewith" partly indoors and partly out.
The Southmuir of Kirriemuir is the chosen location this year, with scenes inside the two halls of St Andrew's Church in the Glamis Road.
Performances take place at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 10 to 13, with a matinee also on Saturday at 2.30 pm.
Tickets will be priced at £7 for adults and £5 concession, with a special offer ticket per family of two adults and two children at £20. They will go on sale next week.
