A Police Spokesman has said that in the two months since the introduction of compulsory seat-belt wearing, it had been shown that in Tayside 97 to 98 per cent of drivers were using the seat-belts.

Tayside police convener Councillor William Johnston, Montrose, has said that a speed limit should be introduced at the new road entrance to Stracathro Hospital from the busy Aberdeen to Perth dual-carriageway. He told Angus Road Safety Committee that many local people were concerned as it had become a speed track for many motorist. He felt that many people were living in fear because of the difficult approach to the hospital of the busy road.

Despite strong opposition by Councillor Neal Geaughan, Angus housing committee has recommended an application in principle for an improvement grant totalling £137,000 over four years for the conversion of the new empty Denburn Works, on Montrose Street, Brechin, into 27 flats.
