There has still been no let-up in the severe weather which has caused havoc throughout the country and Brechin and the surrounding area continues to suffer from the worst conditions experienced for many years. Bright sunshine last Tuesday was accompanied by increasingly keen frost and did little to thaw the hard packed snow. By the middle of the week private contractors had been called in to help with the massive snow-clearing operating facing the roads departments in the town.
The reverend Cannon Robert Breaden, rector of St. Mary’s, Broughty Ferry, has been appointed dean of the diocese of Brechin in succession to the Very Rev. Ernest Hayes, who died last October.
