Better weather conditions at the beginning of last week suggested that February 1984’s thoroughly unpleasant weather record of snow was giving way to a milder March but on Friday, it seemed, winter had returned to Scotland with a vengeance accompanied by heavy snow, black ice and gales up to 90mph. The winds were at their strongest in mid-morning. No fewer than eight lorries were blown over on the Brechin- Forfar road.
Brechin and district Ladies’ Circle held their February meeting in the Angus Steakhouse. Chairman Margaret Drummond welcomed guests from the Officers’ Wives Club, RAF Edzell, and guest speaker Mr M. Garland, who gave a very interesting talk on wine making.
