The fund set up by 1st Brechin Scouts and Cubs to raise cash for the repair and maintenance of their hall received a welcome boost last week in the form of a cheque for £1,005 from Mr John Ritchie of Simpson Motors. It was the proceeds of a novel sponsorship deal with a raffle organised by the firm, who donated 10p from every taxi fare taken over the past four weeks, as well as selling raffle tickets with a wide range of prizes.

At 16 Kevin Mackie is probably the youngest business man in Brechin. He has just taken over the management of the Sports Shop, in Brechin’s High Street, and will be receiving business guidance from his father, Mr Ron Mackie, as well as sports advice from Mr Ian Fleming, manager of Brechin City FC.
