Football: Forfar 1, Brechin 2
The two bottom teams in the Second Division battled it out at Station Park on Saturday. With the crowd down to 324, which must be a new low record for such a derby game, neither team could expect much vocal support to cheer them on. City probably owed there most welcome win to their greater success in adapting themselves to the treacherous ground conditions.
City’s man of the match was Jim Young who scored their first goal.

Golf: The third hole on Edzell golf course, normally 309 yards long, was reduced to 280 yards at the weekend when a temporary green was in use. This, plus the frostbound fairway, enabled Mr Robert Thomson, not only to drive the green but also to hole his tee shot.
