Members of Brechin and District Floral Art Club celebrated the club’s 10th birthday with a very happy dinner party in the Glenesk Hotel, Edzell.

Carols were sung at St Ninian’s Square as usual towards midnight on Christmas Eve. If, due to the lighting restrictions, there was no floodlighting, no “stars in the night sky” even, the tree at least blazed out in its brief hour of glory and the singing led by the City Band (conductor Raymond Brand) was really heartwarming. The night was fine and almost mild for the time of year. The Rotary Club had laid on the usual hot refreshments. A feature much appreciated was Mr A. Jamieson’s singing of “The Holy City”.
