The CPO’s Club at the US base at Edzell presented a casette tape recorder and radio to the library of Stracathro Hospital. It was received by ex-Provost C. W. Renilson, chairman of Angus Hospitals Board.

At a special meeting of the Brechin Youth Panel held on Thursday, January 10, dissatisfaction was expressed among the representatives of some nine youth groups and clubs who attended, at the lack of a Community Centre. It was felt that a stronger voice should be raised to call for this. The meeting supported a proposal to ”go it alone” and obtain the help of the Brechin Town Council and the permission of the County Education Department to begin turning the unused Damacre School into a community centre.
