The setting out of the line of the new £1 million Brechin by-pass is now in hand and it will be followed by the first excavations. The three-and-a-half mile two-carriageway road from St Anne’s to Keithock will include three bridges, an under-pass at Little Keithock Farm and a six-foot diameter culvert to take a burn. The bypass is scheduled to be completed by February 1976.

Mr Hugh S. Nelson, president of the Scottish Football Association, went to Buckingham Palace to receive the CBE awarded to him in the New Year honours. Mr Nelson’s father was a partner in the firm Hunter and Nelson, bus proprietors, who ran the service between Brechin and Arbroath. At first the firm was based in Brechin but later moved to Arbroath.
