Tennis: Twelve couples took park in an American tournament held at the Argyll Street Courts on Thursday, June 6. Winners were Miss Elizabeth Eunson and Mr George Duncan and the consolation prize went to Miss Evelyn Sherret and Mr Alan Petit.

Cricket: This was not a good wicket at Forfar when Brechin faced Strathmore. However, it was by no means a bad one. It helped the speed of Wilson and Wilkins and a fine performance they gave to get rid of Strathmore for 92 in two hours, 20 minutes. In 14 overs each Wilkins had 17 runs scored off him and Wilson 22. And that with ‘Chopper’ on the warpath. This total put Brechin in with a very good chance and when they were 44 for one in 50 minutes things looked even more favourable. But it was the old, old story; in a quarter of an hour it was 53 for six and the game was gone beyond recall.
