The present Brechin manual exchange has been in service for more than 25 years and for the past year or more, it has been overloaded during the busier periods of the day. As a consequence, the operating staff have been working under pressure handling the ever increasing number of telephone calls and maintaining a speedy answer to callers. The provision of the new automatic exchange is now well under way. Installation of the automatic equipment by Associated Electrical Industries has now started and the exchange is likely to brought in to service in June, 1964.

£105 was raised at the sale of work on November 23 for West and St Columba’s Sunday School funds. Mrs George West, West Mains of Keithock, opened the sale.
