Two of the nine Black Watch pipers who played at President Kennedy’s funeral belonged to Brechin. They were L/Cpl Charles Clark, whose parents live in St Andrew’s Street and Piper Jim Mackie, Queen’s Park and they say it was an experience they will never forget. They are members of the Black Watch Pipe Band which has returned to this country after their coast-to-coast tour of USA. The band had played at the White House shortly before the President’s death.
