Father Christmas paid his customary visit to the Christmas party for children organised by the Edzell Christmas Tree committee and held in the Inglis Hall. Invitations had gone to 135 children but illness (mostly chicken pox) kept about 35 away. Their gifts from Santa was delivered after the party.

The traffics lights which are to be erected at the Northwater Bridge - in about three months time - are a new type, more expensive than the old, which change every minute and so cause less delay to traffic than the two-minute type, Mr Johnston D. Milne, Pert, reported to Brechin District Council.
A census at the bridge on a recent Sunday recorded 480 cars per hour;in two minutes 14 to 20 cars could build up.
