It was left to the Rotary Club to arrange the most imaginative feature of Brechin Christmas 1963 - the carol singing round their Christmas tree in the Square on Christmas Even. The organisers must have been greatly encouraged by the response, both from the local choirs who mustered strongly to lead the singing and the many others who went along to join in.

At a special carol service in the Southesk Terrace Citadel of the Salvation Army, Brechin Corps., the children presented a nativity play which had been written and arranged by Mrs Lieutenant J. Wayman. Lieutenant David Wayman would like to thank the old-age pensioner whose 10s donation to the Salvation Army arrived at his quarters on Christmas Day.
