Hockey: Brechin, 2; Lawside, 1. The home forwards exhausted their shooting power in the pre-match practice for it was the old story of wasted chances. Anderson put Brechin ahead. J. Hammond increased the lead but Lawside pulled one back with a great goal. Right to the end Brechin stuck to their job but should have trebled the score.
Football: A record crowd of over 8,000 packed into Glebe Park on Saturday for the second round Scottish Cup tie between Brechin City and Dundee. Brechin trotted off the park at half-time with the scores at two each. However the first division boys had other ideas and they simply walked through the Brechin team scoring at will - nine in all without further reply from City.
