On April 2, members of Brechin Acorn Club had a most enjoyable day out to Stirling, followed by a high tea at Glencarse Hotel.

Members highlighted the quality of service at the hotel, saying they were made to feel very welcome by Lena and her staff.

The following week, the club held their annual general meeting, which was well attended. Before addressing club business, Gill Smith accepted a cheque for £200 on behalf of the Brechin Amateur Operative Society from Acorn club president, Jessie Rennie.

The club had selected the group to benefit from the donation as they are celebrating their 50th anniversary later this year.

The club elected a new president as Mrs Rennie had taken the decision to stand down. A. Mitchell, who was elected the new president, then expressed thanks on behalf of the members to Mrs Rennie for her dedicated and loyal approach during her term in office. Ms Mitchell added the she hoped to be given the same support during her own presidency.

After the close of business, members enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea and a musical interlude courtesy of Evelyn Simpson, who is also a member of the group.

The club is now on a summer break and will resume on September 17 this year.
