At Brechin Rotary Club’s most recent meeting, members were entertained by a traveller’s tale.
Alastair Edgar, whose father Andy is a member of the Brechin Rotary Club, gave a talk on his adventures during his holiday break from university.
His somewhat exotic vacation took him to the Far-east, where he indulged in dives in the Maldives and instructor training in Thailand.
A spokesperson for the club explained: “Alastair’s colourful and diverse presentation made waves, revealing close shaves with sharks, encounters with a playful elephant, and a brief introduction to Buddhist culture.
“All of this and more, Alastair explained, led to him passing the coveted PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) diving instructor’s course.”
Brechin Rotary Club member Alan Watt gave a vote of thanks to Alastair for a talk that went ‘swimmingly’ well.
Vice president, Ian McFatridge, also announced at the meeting that the annual Rotary Club Quiz Night will take place this year on Tuesday, September 23, at the Caledonian Hotel in Southesk Street.
