At the recent annual general meeting of the City of Brechin and District Community Council office-bearers were re-elected as follows:-
Convener, Grahame Lockhart; vice-convener, Frances Keats, secretary, Eric Gray; treasurer, Frances Keats; minute secretary, Wendy Coutts; planning contact, Paul Wright; and press officer, Joy Mowatt.
Convener Grahame Lockhart gave a full report on the community council’s work to date and thanked the police representatives for their regular attendance, the Brechin Advertiser for its support in reporting regularly on their activities, and all the members for their active participation.
At the subsequent general meeting members agreed the following motion: “The City of Brechin and District Community Council, in wishing to share the burden of responsibilities of the position of convener, agrees that any invitation to the convener to represent the community council will be considered by the convener and, where necessary, he will appoint a substitute in his place.
“Members request that organisations respect our wishes in this matter and accept whichever member is appointed by the convener to represent the City of Brechin and District Community Council.”
Convener Grahame Lockhart commented: “I am delighted that all members are willing to share some of the responsibilities on the position of convener as I am not able to accept every invitation that comes in.
“This should make all City of Brechin and District Community Council members more readily recognisable across Angus and ensure, where possible, that invitations are accepted.
“We stress that this is our collective wish and we hope other bodies accept it as such.”
The various sub-groups reported with their suggestions for a number of events and activities which will be reported in due course once details are finalised.
The next meeting will be held at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, September 4 in the Damacre Centre.
