Appeal for new blood for Friends of Museum group

The newly re-elected chairman of The Friends of Brechin Town House Museum has appealed for individuals to join its committee.

Speaking at the recent annual general meeting, Brian Mitchell said: “Most of the current members of our committee belong to the ‘’silver hair’’ section of society and new blood is essential if it is to continue. Without the involvement of new members, and taking into account the now limited ‘shelf-life’ of several present members, the existence of the committee - and therefore of The Friends of Brechin Town House Museum – will cease.

“I believe this would be bad for the museum and bad for the town itself.”

The group was set up 11 years ago to encourage interest in the town’s history and to raise awareness of the museum and its activities. It has supported – and continues to support – the museum in various ways but mainly by producing a wide range of presentations and talks.

The ‘Friends’ committee meets around six times in the year. Anyone interested in joining the committee, or seeking more information, should contact Brian on 01356 624356 or leave their details with Brechin museum staff.
