ARBROATH YOUTH GROUP HEADING TO OZ

THE Youth Group of Arbroath's Abbey Theatre are putting the finishing touches to their 2010 production - a stage adaptation of the classic L. Frank Baum novel The Wizard of Oz.

The famous tale revolves around a little girl who, rendered unconscious in a whirlwind, awakens to meet a scarecrow, a tin woodman and a cowardly lion with whom she follows the yellow brick road.

Their quest to find the famous Wizard of Oz, who may grant their deepest wishes, leads to them encountering good and bad witches and many other characters on the way.

The stage play, adapted from the original novel by Alfred Bradley and produced by Laura Adam, is full of humour and compassion and is suitable for audiences of all ages.

The production will run from March 1 to 6 at the Abbey Theatre in Abbot Street.

Tickets, priced 6, are on sale now from the VisitScotland visitor centre at Arbroath harbour.
