Brechin Photographic Society came to the end of a busy year recently with a visit from Donald Ford, who gave a hilarious account of his many adventures where he captured stunning Scottish landscapes and golf photographs.

The society also had a visit from Al Buntin, who was a guest judge from Dundee, who was impressed with the number of entries for the photo competition titled ‘In all weathers’.

He had a tough job judging the diversity of images submitted. Al praised the photographers on their images and provided some very helpful feedback on how these might be improved. The results were as follows:

Beginners category - 1, Susan McLachlan with ‘Creating energy, whatever the weather’; 2, John Griffith with ‘Wet wet wet’; 3, Archie Milne with ‘Ice trollies’.

Intermediate category - 1, Pam Drever with ‘Where’s the View?’; 2, Jean Wigglesworth with ‘Rainy day lily’; 3, Ian Drever with ‘Niagara’.

Advanced category - 1, James Anderson with ‘Desperate Summer’; 2, Andy Hayes with ‘Dependability in a fragile world’; 3, Frank Horrocks with ‘Advanced rainstorm in Swaledale’.

The House of Dun once again provided an excellent Christmas dinner for members and their guests. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The group thanked the staff for their hospitality.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We conclude this year’s events with a Christmas lights shoot where members will photograph the bright lights of Brechin during the festive period.

“We wish all members, guest judges and speakers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We resume meetings on Tuesday January 8 at 7.15 p.m .in St. Andrews Church Hall with a quiz night- new members are more than welcome.”
