First bands for the Brechin Music Festival announced

Organisers behind Brechin’s first music festival, set to take place next year, have announced the first couple of bands booked to play at the event.

It was confirmed last week that The Complete Stone Roses and The Trade will play at the event.

Brechin Music Festival is to be held on August 30 and August 31 next year, with organisers hoping the event gives the town a lift.

The idea to organise a music festival was aired on the Brechin Advertiser Facebook back in June. And it generated so much interest that a committee was formed to make the plans a reality.

Since then the committee has worked on putting the event together and has even undertaken fund-raising, including an event at the Nova Suite in Brechin back in September.

Graeme Strachan, who is one of the key people behind the plans, said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce ‘The Complete Stone Roses’ and ‘The Trade’ will be playing at Brechin Music Fest in The City Hall on August 30, 2013.”

The organisers hope to announce ticket information soon.

Interested sponsors, new bands, or those who are well-established, who would like to take part in Brechin Fest 2013 are encouraged to contact organisers by emailing info@brechinmusicfest.co.uk.
