NICOLA BENEDETTI TO CHAT ABOUT HER FANTASIE
A north-east audience is to get a rare chance for a face-to-face chat with violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti when she plays Aberdeen's Music Hall on Thursday, April 1.
For the internationally-acclaimed star is to hold a free pre-recital chat with a Q&A session before her performance, to give the audience a better understanding of her work and the evening's music, which will include popular favourites from the solo and chamber music repertoire.
The 6.15pm talk is open to recital ticket holders only and numbers are limited, so places must be booked either online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall, His Majesty's Theatre and The Lemon Tree.
Part of her Fantasie recital tour, Nicola will be accompanied on stage by cellist Leonard Elschenbroich and pianist Alexei Grynyuk for the 7.30pm performance.
The Ayrshire-born star, who has seen a meteoric rise to the peak of her profession since winning the BBC's coveted Young Musician of the Year in 2004, last performed at the Music Hall in September, in concert with Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy, as part of the concert halls 150th anniversary celebrations.
In the same month, her fourth album, Fantasie, was released, featuring the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and quickly rose to the top of the classical chart.
Fantasie has a varied repertoire including some of the great recitals including Vaughan William's The Lark Ascending, one of the greatest works for violin which, for the last three years, has been voted Classic FM's favourite piece of classical music in their Hall of Fame.
