NIKI SINGS A TRIBUTE TO BILLIE HOLIDAY

TOP jazz vocalist Niki King is set to honour Billie Holiday following the 50th anniversary of her death at Dundee Rep Theatre on Wednesday, July 14.

Holiday had a deeply troubled life and died of cirrhosis, aged just 44, in 1959.

But she was credited with changing jazz and pop singing forever, thanks to her individual approach to wording and tempo.

Now King - a former Perrier Jazz Vocalist of the Year - celebrates the artist's early work with her Billie Holiday Songbook concerts.

Featuring many of Holiday's self-penned songs, such as Don't Explain and God Bless the Child, as well as ones written especially for her, such as Lover Man, this will be a fantastic night of music.

Ticket details from the box office on 01382 223530.

The evening begins at 7.30 pm.
