Plans for annual Ruthven Festival

ORGANISERS of the highly-acclaimed Ruthven Parish Festival have announced this year’s celebration of classical music will consist of a concert on the evening of Friday, June 7, and a concert on the afternoon of Sunday, June 9.

This will be the 24th year of Ruthven Parish Festival, which is held in the acoustically-perfect Ruthven Church, situated in a beautiful, secluded valley near the hamlet of Ruthven, almost exactly on the border between the counties of Perthshire and Angus.

The festival’s own orchestra, The Ruthven Festival Musicians, will play at both concerts and will be joined by specially-invited musicians and singers from the world of classical music.

The first concert, ‘Viva Italia’, will feature the music of Monteverdi, Albinoni, Rossini and Vivaldi and will include a buffet supper. The concert on June 9 will be a musical tribute to spring and summer, with compositions by, amongst others, Vivaldi, Delius, Vaughan Williams and Piazzola. Following an afternoon of first-class music, strawberries and cream will be served in the stunning grounds of Ruthven Church, high on the banks of the River Isla. Booking opens on May 1.

Seats, £16 for each concert (includes wine reception, Friday evening buffet/Sunday afternoon strawberries and cream), under-12s welcome and free of charge.
