‘Switch on Brechin’ give thanks

Brechin’s Christmas Lights committee has thanked the community for supporting this year’s ‘Switch On Brechin’ event which saw 350 people in attendance.

Jan MacIntyre, member of the committee, commented: On behalf of Brechin Christmas Lights I would like to thank the community for turning out at the switch on.

The Christmas light committee spent over £8,000 on this year’s lights buying four new crossovers and nine new column features to replace damaged ones from the previous year.

New features have also been provided for the Town House Museum and across Church Street.

“A thank you to all who entertained us: Radio North Angus, Brechin Pipe Band, Brechin Brass Band, Brechin High School Jazz Band, and the Brechin Churches together Carol Singers.

“Also thanks to Santa for taking time out from his busy schedule, The Caledonian Hotel who donated soup and to Gardner Memorial for hot chocolate to warm us up.

“Thanks to all those who worked so hard to make the event happen: Round Table, Gardner Memorial, Angus Council, our local councillors, the rugby club, and the Christmas Lights Committee.

“A thank you also goes to the Brechin High School pupils who bag packed at the Co-op for funds for the lights.”
