Tesco Bank summer reading challenge

Children across Angus took part in the Tesco Bank summer reading challenge, story lab, over the summer holidays, including many children in Brechin.
Across Angus 19,000 books were read in the challenge which saw primary school aged children reading six or more books during the summer holidays.
Boys and girls who completed the challenge each received a medal and certificate.
A spokesperson for Brechin library said: “Every summer libraries all over the UK hold a summer reading challenge to encourage primary should children to read six books throughout their summer holidays.
“Here we receive sponsorship from Tesco Bank, hence the title The Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge.
“The presentation on Friday was for all the children who completed the challenge along with the little ones who had completed the Bookbug Reading Challenge, held at the same time for children under five.”
Author Nick Hesketh, entertained the children for half an hour before the presentation with the story of how he came to become an author.
Co-ordinated by The Reading Agency and with 760,000 children aged four-11 in the UK taking part, the Summer Reading Challenge is the biggest national reading initiative.
