THE IMPRESSIONS OF CATTERLINE UNVEILED IN EXHIBITION

A stunning exhibition entitled "Impressions of Catterline" opened at the Montrose Museum last Saturday and will run until June 21.

The culmination of six months of hard work by Kim Canale of Wall Projects, her latest exhibition focusses on the village of Catterline in Kincardineshire, which has been a haven for artists over the years.

The village is heavily associated with painter Joan Eardley, Nil Neilson and many others.

The exhibition features the work of 18 artists, each one exploring the diversity of their own unique perspective to the tiny cliff-top village.

Kim explained: "The exhibition is a mixture of established and emerging artists, with Anna King, who last year won the Jolomo prize for landscape painting, and David Cook whose work will be seen next year in a solo show with The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh."

The exhibition also features the work of Sarah Carrington, and Edinburgh based painter, and many more.

It is the result of the Joan Eardley show in Edinburgh last year, which made a real impact on the public, and also the absence of The Catterline Arts Festival which had to be cancelled this year.

Kim added: "Hopefully this exhibition will help to fill that void.

"It is also important that, here in the north-east of Scotland, we have the opportunity to see and buy works which are normally only available in major cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow."

The exhibition will be touring later this year.
