TODD HEADS TO ABERDEEN FOR SPAMALOT
FORMER Eastender and The Bill star Todd Carty is to play a leading role in the comedy musical Spamalot, which begins a week-long run at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen on Monday, August 16.
He will be banging two coconuts together as Patsy in the Broadway and West End hit musical, lovingly ripped off from Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Eric Idle and John Du Prez.
Although he appeared in many television roles as a child actor, his first major role was as Tucker in the BBC's Grange Hill and in his own spin-off series, Tucker's Luck.
He played Mark Fowler in Eastenders for many years as well as PC Gabriel/David Kent in The Bill and won hearts, if not accolades, as an ice dancer in ITV's hit show Dancing on Ice.
He has directed several episodes of Doctors for the BBC and recently directed the film The Perfect Burger for the British Youth Film Academy, which is due for release later this year.
Monty Python's Spamalot, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005, tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings (cancelled due to health and safety) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people.
The show features fantastic tunes which are catchier than the plague, such as He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the nation's favourite comedy song (Reader's Digest Poll 2009) Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Tickets for Spamalot are available online at www.boxofficeaberdeen.com, by phone at 01224 641122 and at Aberdeen Box Office at the Music Hall, His Majesty's Theatre and The Lemon Tree.
