TSO TO ENTERTAIN WITH MUSIC FROM STAGE AND SCREEN

PREPARATIONS for Tayside Symphony Orchestra's first concert of this year are drawing to a close. The concert will be held on Saturday, February 6 in the Reid Hall, Forfar, beginning at 7.30pm.

Entitled "Music From Stage and Screen" the programme consists of a wide range of well-known selections from "Les Miserables", "The Lion King", "Grease", "Lord of the Dance" along with themes from the "Bond" films, as well as others.

Ron Walker, TSO conductor, said: "Traditionally this concert has been well attended by our loyal supporters who are probably looking for a relaxing break from the wintry weather.

"To cheer them up we have deliberately chosen items which have been popular over the years. This year we are also featuring ByreRhythm, a Taiko Drumming group from Fife. I'm sure they will provide exciting entertainment.

"We are certain the concert programme will appeal to a wide range of musical tastes so get your ticket now to avoid disappointment. I should say that a similar event last year attracted an audience in excess of 600, so you'll see what I mean about getting your ticket early.

"As usual, we will run a bus from Montrose/Brechin to Forfar at a cost of 3; potential travellers should contact either John Stevenson (Montrose 676492) or Ron Walker (Forfar 463916) as soon as possible and by February 5 at the latest.

"I would like to express my thanks to the event's sponsors, EQ Chartered Accountants, Clydesdale Bank, Thorntons Solicitors and Kohe-Noor Takeaway Restaurant, the latter organisation giving financial support for the first time.

"Finally, I look forward to joining members of the audience in some refreshment at the end of the concert."

Tickets are on sale from Toy Castle, Castle Street, Forfar; Hoggs, High Street, Montrose; Print Matters, Swan Street, Brechin; any member of TSO/TSO committee; also at the door on the evening of the performance.
