The City of Brechin Pipe Band held their annual general meeting on Thursday, October 30.

Pipe Major Craig Black and Lead Drummer Grant McIntosh both gave reports reflecting on the bands past season successes, which included sixth place at the European Pipe Band Championships in Forres, various successes at Strathmore Highland Games and Aberdeen Highland Games.

The report also reflected on the disappointment of narrowly missing out on a place in the final at the World Championships.

The City of Brechin Pipe Band certainly had a busy year, with performances at various events in the town, as well as their success at various competitions. They opened the Pageant in the City event in June, followed by leading the ride out at the Harley in the City event. Most recently they performed at the Hallowe’en cartie race.

Pipe Major Craig Black also made a presentation of gifts to Grant, who is heading off to start a new life in New Zealand.

During the meeting, the main office bearers were elected as follows:-

President, Dave Young; Secretary, Gloria Nicol; Treasurer, Clare Brown; Pipe Major, Craig Black.

The pipe band are urgently looking to appoint a new lead drummer for their grade three band and a new Pipe Major for their grade four band.

They are also looking to recruit experienced Pipers and Drummers for both bands.
