THE BRECHIN Probus Club had its Christmas Lunch in the Northern Hotel on Tuesday, December 11. Chairman Bob Berry welcomed members and their wives to the hotel’s function suite, which was suitably decorated for the occasion.
The Grace was given by Reverend Bernard Liddiard and the company then enjoyed seasonal fare high quality. The Royal Toast and a short talk by the chairman were followed by Jo Berry’ thanking the members for inviting the ladies, Jo said that the Christmas Lunch was always an enjoyable afternoon for them. The toast to the ‘Spirit of Probus’ was given by Iain Rae, who said the club always presented an atmosphere of kindness and general bonhomie which encouraged members to consistently turn out to meetings in large numbers, irrespective of the weather.
The Brechin High School Jazz Band provided the entertainment for the remainder of the afternoon with some fine renditions of popular Jazz music. Charlie Simpson gave the vote of thanks, thanking all who had participated and he expressed the hope that the band would stay together after they leave school.
Finally, the chairman reminded members that the first meeting of the next session would be on Tuesday, January 8.
