Brechin Probus Club elects new office-bearers

Brechin and District Probus Club held its annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 16, at the Northern Hotel, Brechin.

Sandy Watson and David Hill retired from the committee having served three years in office. Ian Croll retired as secretary after serving 10 years in the post. Charlie Simpson continues as auditor and Iain Rae as reporter. Bob Berry thanked them all for their contribution to the running of the club.

In particular Bob thanked Ian Croll for his many years of service and for carrying out an excellent job in the post of secretary.

The members of the club presented Ian with a garden seat and a cheque to mark their appreciation of his outstanding service and commitment to the club. This was followed by a rousing round of applause from the members. Ian was very touched by this unexpected presentation and thanked the club members for their support.

The following were elected as office-bearers for the coming year: Bob Berry, chairman; Brian Titmuss, treasurer; Frank Scott, secretary; and Jim Hawke, vice chairman.

George Mitchell, Hector Masterton and Geoffrey Rose were elected to the committee.

The next meeting of the club is on Tuesday, April 30, when Mrs Brenda Simpson will give a talk entitled ‘Meandering through Scots Poetry’.
