On Tuesday, March 4, 31 members of Brechin Probus Club met in the Northern Hotel to be entertained by the retired procurator fiscal, Sandy Ingram.
Sandy, who is also a well known fiddler with the Angus Fiddlers, gave a talk entitled ‘The secret of a long and happy life.’ He based his talk on four principles of good religion, good sleep, good music and laughter.
Sandy went in-depth with his principles, explaining good religion was a guidance from what ever source you set your principles in life. Good sleep is natures great restorer and rest gives you a clear conscience in many ways aided by your belief. Good music makes you happy and relaxed or fits your mood. The fourth, and final principle, laughter, was likened to changing a baby’s nappy, in that it changed the mood for a while, until things returned to normal.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Iain Rae. The next meeting takes place on March 18. The speaker will be John Beaton who will give a talk entitled ‘Spaced out in NASA’.
