A Brechin society that has just celebrated its 175th year is calling on the town to help form a committee and save the group.

Brechin Horticultural Society, which was established in 1839 and holds an annual flower show in the town, is in desperate need for volunteers and members, otherwise the show could cease to exist.

A society spokesperson said: “This is a call to everyone who enjoyed the Brechin Flower Show. To enable the show to continue, we need your help! We are holding an emergency general meeting because we are in desperate need for volunteers and members to make up a committee so the show can go on.”

The emergency meeting is set to take place at the Caledonian Hotel on Wednesday, November 26 at 7 p.m.

The spokesperson added: “Don’t let 175 years of history end.”
