Brechin Rotary Club welcomed Rotary member Ron Stewart as their speaker at their latest meeting, held at the Caledonian Hotel.

Ron provided the club with a very comprehensive presentation on the future of Brechin’s City Hall.

Ron said he first appeared on the boards at the City Hall 70 years ago.

He outlined, in depth, the recent history of promised developments to the building, comparing it to actual investments elsewhere in Angus.

Ron’s passionate thoughts regarding the City Hall are well known and he said he was pleased that there are no plans to close it as he felt the facilities at the proposed new Community Campus venue would not be suitable in many ways for the local musical societies.

Ron also explained that he was pleased with the response to the City of Brechin and District Community Council’s questionnaire which asked: “Does Brechin need the City Hall?”

He exclaimed that the answer was a virtually unanimous yes, some of the replies indicating just how loved the City Hall is by Brechiners.

Rotary Club member Isobel Luke gave Ron a vote of thanks for his passionate presentation.
