The Brechin group of Contact-the-Elderly had a double celebration recently, when two of their guests celebrated their 90th birthdays.
Betty Dryden and Jimmy Mitchell cut the cake and blew out the candles to the delight of members of the group (pictured above).
Volunteers, hosts and the other guests joined in wishing them well on such a happy occasion.
Contact-the-Elderly’s volunteers drive elderly gusts to a different host’s house once a month for tea and a chat, and help alleviate loneliness in guests aged over 75 who live alone and do not have a lot of social contact.
The group are gearing up to host their annual fund-raising event. A spokesperson explained: “We will be having our annual coffee morning on October 11 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Gardner Memorial Church Hall.
“Funds raised go towards little gifts for Christmas and birthdays and the occasional extra outing.
“If anyone has any donations, they can be delivered on the evening of the October 10 from 6 to 7 p.m. or on the morning of October 11.”
