Brechin Acorn Club were treated to a visit from Mark Clark, managing director of Grampian Growers Ltd, and his colleague Ailsa.
President Anne Mitchell welcomed the duo to the meeting. They explained that Grampian Growers Ltd was formed 30 years ago as a cooperative and there were six farmers involved. Daffodils, strawberries and some potatoes were the main crops involved.
However, over the years this has changed and at the moment there are between 12 to 15 farmers involved. Seed potatoes, daffodil bulbs and cut flowers are the focus.
Members were surprised to learn that there were 100s of different daffodil species and Ailsa had several slides to confirm the variation of the blooms.
W. Smith gave the vote of thanks for an interesting and entertaining talk and also for the bunches of daffodils.
