Stewart Mowatt was guest speaker at Brechin Rotary Club’s most recent meeting, where he gave a talk on his recent travels.
Stewart’s talk, which took place at the Caledonian Hotel, was entitled ‘Dander down the Danube’.
Stewart went on an epic journey along the whole length of the River Danube this year with only his motorbike and tent as company.
He related some of the stories of this dream of a lifetime quest, and some of the characters that he met along the way on the 2850 kilometre route from Germany through to the Black Sea.
Stewart was thanked by Rotarian Stanley Callaghan for an absorbing presentation, which provoked an array of questions.
The club also discussed details of this year’s annual quiz night which will take place on Tuesday, July 30, at the Caledonian Hotel at 7.30 p.m.
This year’s quiz will support the excellent Pregnancy Sickness Support organisation and the club urges folk to book a table by calling in to David Robinson Opticians.
David was pleased to report that several tables have already been reserved.
Steve Collis was also named new vice-president, with Jim Houston taking over as president( see page 14).
