Brechin District Community Council have not met with any success in their representations with regard to obtaining Exchequer assistance for the repair of Edzell and Glenesk roads which were badly damaged by the disastrous flooding at the end of September.
At the December meeting of the council a deputation was appointed to discuss the question with Sir Colin Thornton-Kemsley.
Reporting on their interview with the MP at Tuesday’s meeting of the district council, Mr Johnston Milne, Pert, said that the meeting had been successful enough, but the results of the subsequent pressure on the Secretary of State had been nil.

Edzell Village Improvement Society, which has laid out a playground, asked the District Council to contribute £20 towards the cost of equipment, in which case Angus Education Committee would give a grant of £40.
The chairman said that they did want to be niggardly but they could not go on handing out money.
A decision was deferred pending further information.

THE EXPANDING Brechin Cannery of Anglia Canners (Scottish Division) in Commerce Street, can take a great deal of satisfaction in the fact that it has played an important part in the award to its parent company.
A spokesperson for the company last week said that there had been an export increase across the whole range of products sold mainly to Europe and the Middle East.
About 85 per cent of that increase was on the export of Brechin-processed Scotch raspberries to France and Germany.
Brechin is becoming an increasingly important part of the organisation and made the major contribution to the export success.
