Firemen from Brechin, Forfar and Arbroath were called at midnight last Monday to an outbreak of a fire in the cattle shed at Bog Farm, Aberlemno.
Water was pumped from a burn and the fire was brought under control in an hour.
Forty cattle remained in the part of the shed not affected by the fire.
Work on the final phase of the River Street re-development bagan with the contract for 24 houses being worth £78,826.
Preliminary demolition work included the razing of the Bridgend Bar.
Brechin Town Council offered a site for the new public-house in the scheme for anyone prepared to carry out the development for which ground rent was to be £270 a year.

Brechin Railway Preservation Society is about to sign the lease document from Angus District Council that will give it running powers on the line and enable track maintenance to be carried out.
It is hoped that within two years the society will have a passenger railway service operating, but much has to be done before that stage is reached.

Work on dualling the A94 Brechin bypass was given the go-ahead last week by Scottish Secretary Ian Lang.
It is one of seven major projects, each costing in the excess of £3 million, included in a new road construction and improvement programme for 1992/93.
Local designer Derek Watson (25) - who now works for Edinburgh consultants Shaw Design - is in line for a top European graphic design award, the 4eme Trophee de la Passion Ideal.
Derek was responsible for designing Shaw Design’s own company brochure and the publication is the only Scottish entry to make it through to the final stages of the prestigious award.
The nomination is the latest in a line of successes for the talented designer.
